Since 12 August 2026, the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) has been generally applicable. This European packaging regulation affects the entire packaging chain, from producers and importers to distributors and end users.

In recent months, the focus has mainly been on collecting the right product data and documentation. However, the PPWR goes beyond demonstrable compliance. The regulation also affects how packaging is designed, produced, used and ultimately processed.
