Be Aware: plastic ban in France in force from January 1, 2024! Are you prepared?
16 november 2023
At Argos, we strive for continuous innovation in packaging, especially as the transition to more sustainable alternatives becomes more important. With the complete ban on plastic packaging for unprocessed fruit and vegetables up to 1.5 kg taking effect in France on December 31, 2023, we are actively working on alternative packaging that not only complies with the new regulations, but also contributes to environmental awareness. While the original ban should have come into force in 2022, it was postponed by the French Council of State. The actual ban on plastic packaging for unprocessed fruit and vegetables under 1.5 kg did not come into force until 1 July 2023, but to allow stocks to still be used, a transition period was granted until the end of the year.
The change in this legislation in France makes it very important to develop alternative packaging. A good solution for this is our paper flowpack packaging. The packaging is not only 100% plastic-free, but also certified by Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®). The paper flowpack packaging also offers the possibility of packaging fresh, dried and frozen fruits and vegetables. Due to the different sizes of the packaging, up to 2.5 kg of fruit and vegetables can be packed.
In short, we believe this innovation not only complies with changing legislation, but also has a positive impact on the environment.
