FSC week – Choose forests. Choose FSC

28 september 2022

From 24 to 30 September, FSC® will launch the "FSC Forest Week" with the theme Choose forests. Choose FSC®.

The campaign aims to raise consumer awareness about responsible forest management and responsible consumption. As an FSC® licensee, this gives us the opportunity to join forces and ensure that consumers are more consciously opting for sustainable and environmentally friendly products when shopping.

What does FSC mean?

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) is an international organisation committed to conservation and responsible forest management worldwide. This ensures that the ecological, social and economic aspects associated with forest management are taken into account in a balanced way. These include:
  • Protection of the habitat of plants and animals.
  • Respect for local population and forest workers.
  • Harvesting wood but preserving the forest.
Wood and paper products originating from an FSC-certified forest can be recognised by the FSC label.

Sustainable packaging

In terms of sustainability, the entire packaging sector is making "green" strides, but we're not there yet. Compared to a few years ago, packaging is becoming more and more sustainable, but it is still a major contributor to our collective waste mountain.

Sustainable packaging is not just about reducing material consumption or using recycled materials. Already during the production process, manufacturers can apply sustainable technology that reduces the impact on the environment and avoids wasting raw materials. It is also important that the packaging is recycled properly in the final phase. As a supplier and manufacturer, we have an obligation to develop packaging that can be easily recycled, thereby simplifying the recycling process. Clear communication on the packaging makes it much easier for the end user to contribute to a future-proof environment.

Making packaging more sustainable is not a one-man job; it can only succeed if we intensively work together. Together with our partners, suppliers and relations, we can make a difference and we must focus on sustainable and innovative packaging so that we can jointly make a positive contribution to our environment.

Choose FSC®

As a product of responsible forest management, FSC products such as wood, paper and cardboard are an inexhaustible raw material. It is therefore inherently a circular material and part of the so-called biological cycle. In our range of packaging and protective materials, we have several FSC-certified products. Below is a selection of these products:

FSC®-certified aqua boxes

Aqua boxes are used to pack cut flowers and protect them during storage and transport. The aqua box is known for its excellent quality and is available in various sizes and qualities. The entire range of aqua boxes is available in FSC® certified material.

FSC®-certified edge protectors

With the high-quality APP edge protectors from Argos, you provide extra protection during storage or transport and the right protection against bumps, shocks or instability. When shipping a pallet of products, it is essential to protect it as well as possible by providing all corners with edge protectors in combination with a strapping band or wrapping film. Without edge protectors, these packaging materials offer insufficient protection and the risk of breakage, damage or loss is considerably higher. In our product range, we have a wide selection of edge protectors that are produced from FSC® certified raw materials.

FSC®-certified cardboard clamshells

Our entire range of cardboard clamshells - for packaging fruit and vegetables - is available in FSC® certified cardboard. This applies to all our variants: from folding cardboard, mini corrugated clamshells to solid cardboard clamshells. Our specialists have a suitable FSC® clamshell for every application.

100% plastic-free NoW Flowpack packaging

NoW flowpack packaging is a sustainable, recyclable, 100% plastic-free packaging, with an FSC® quality mark that contributes to a more sustainable environment. The NoW flowpack packaging is produced entirely from paper and cellulose and allows fresh, dried and frozen fruit and vegetables to be packed in a sustainable way. The packaging's large size and specifications make it ideal for packing fruit and vegetables up to 2.5 kg. Because the packaging is equipped with a 1-layer transparent cellulose window produced from wood pulp, the packaging is 100% recyclable and can be fully integrated in the paper recycling process.
